Maus-Doppelklick-Problem (Chattern) beheben
Double clicking when you only single click is one of the most common and frustrating mouse hardware failures. It ruins drag-and-drop, accidentally opens files, and ruins FPS precision. The root cause is almost always switch bounce — a worn metal contact inside the click switch rapidly makes and breaks contact multiple times in a single press event.
Step 1: Diagnose — Is Your Mouse Actually Double Clicking?
Before attempting any fix, confirm the problem using our free Double Click Test tool. The test measures the time interval between consecutive click-down events. A single click should generate exactly one event. If you see two events within 50ms of each other for a single press, your mouse switch is bouncing.
To use the test: open the Double Click Test page, click the test area at normal speed, and watch for orange or red warnings that flag suspiciously fast consecutive clicks. If the tool flags 3 or more double-clicks in 30 clicks, the switch is failing.

Why Does Mouse Double Clicking Happen?
Mouse click switches use a tiny metal spring leaf inside a plastic housing. When you press the button, the leaf snaps down to complete an electrical circuit, then snaps back up when you release. Over time — typically after 5–10 million clicks on consumer switches — the spring leaf fatigues. Instead of making clean contact once, it "bounces" between open and closed several times in milliseconds, registering as multiple clicks.
The most commonly failing switch is the Omron D2FC-F-7N, used in countless gaming mice including Razer DeathAdder and Logitech G series. It is rated for 20 million actuations but double-click failures often appear at 5–10 million clicks in practice. Kailh GM 8.0 (rated 80M clicks) shows significantly better longevity.
Fix 1: Adjust Windows Double-Click Speed (Free, Instant)
Windows has a built-in double-click detection threshold. If two clicks happen within this threshold, Windows registers them as a double-click. Reducing this threshold makes Windows less likely to mis-register bounced contacts as intentional double-clicks.
To adjust: Control Panel → Mouse → Buttons tab → Double-click speed → move the slider all the way to Slow. This does not affect your click speed for actual double-clicks — it only changes how tightly Windows groups two clicks together.
Works for: Light switch bounce. Does NOT fix severe bounce where clicks register within 1–5ms of each other.
Fix 2: Use Manufacturer Debounce Settings
Most gaming mouse software includes a debounce delay setting that tells the mouse firmware to ignore additional clicks within a configurable window. This is the most effective software fix.
- • Logitech G HUB: Go to your mouse → Assignments → Sensitivity — look for "Debounce" under advanced settings (available on G Pro X Superlight 2 and newer models)
- • Razer Synapse 3: Device Settings → Performance → Debounce Time
- • SteelSeries GG: Your mouse → Settings → Debounce (available on Rival series)
- • CORSAIR iCUE: Actions → scroll to hardware debounce — typically 0–20ms slider
Set debounce to 10–15ms. Above 20ms may cause missed intentional double-clicks.
Fix 3: Third-Party Debounce Software
If your mouse software lacks debounce settings, X-Mouse Button Control (XMBC) is a free Windows utility that applies software-level debouncing system-wide. Download from highrez.co.uk/downloads/xmbc.htm. After installing, right-click the tray icon → Properties → Global Settings → Debounce.
AutoHotkey users can write a short script to reject clicks that follow another click within a set interval. This is a technical option best for users already familiar with AutoHotkey scripting.
Fix 4: Clean or Replace the Mouse Switch (Hardware)
If software fixes provide no relief, the switch contacts need physical attention. With basic skills and a screwdriver set, you can open the mouse, locate the click switch on the PCB, and spray compressed air or a small amount of isopropyl alcohol (90%+) onto the switch contacts. This removes oxidation and debris that worsen bouncing.
For a permanent fix, desolder the failing switch and replace it. Omron D2F-01F-T (through-hole) or Kailh GM 8.0 (SMD) are popular replacements available on AliExpress for under $1 each. This fix extends mouse life by another 5–10 years. Many gaming peripheral communities (r/MouseReview, r/buildapc) have step-by-step guides for specific mouse models.
Before opening the mouse, check if it is still under warranty — physical modification voids most warranties.
When to Replace Instead of Fix
If the mouse is more than 3 years old, the scroll wheel encoder or cable may also be failing. At that point, repair cost and effort exceed the value of the mouse. If the switch replacement requires hot-air rework (SMD pads), factor in the equipment cost.
After any fix — software or hardware — re-test using the Double Click Test to confirm the issue is resolved before returning to competitive play.
